Basics of Supply Chain Management

Explore the basic concepts of managing the flow of materials in a supply chain. The course provides a complete overview of material flow, from internal and external suppliers, to and from your organization. Topics include: Elements of the Supply Chain, Just-in-Time (JIT), Total Quality Management (TQM), Manufacturing Resource Planning (MRP II), Demand Planning, and Capacity Management.

Detailed Scheduling & Planning

PLAN-9002

Focus on the various techniques for material and capacity scheduling. Study detailed descriptions of material requirements planning (MRP), capacity requirements planning (CRP), inventory management practices, and procurement and supply planning.

Strategic Management of Resources

PLAN-9008

Explore the relationships of existing and emerging processes and technologies to manufacturing strategy, and supply chain-related functions. The course addresses three main topics; aligning resources with the strategic plan, configuring and integrating operating processes to support the strategic plan, and implementing changes.

Execution & Control of Operations

PLAN-9003

Focus on the areas of prioritization and sequencing work, executing work plans and implementing controls, reporting activity results, and providing feedback on operations performance. The course explains techniques for scheduling and controlling production processes, the execution of quality initiatives and continuous improvement plans, and the controlling and handling of inventories.

Important Registration Information

Starting Fall 2006, APICS students can register for certification courses online. Payment can also be made online through Fanshawe College.

Students can still register by sending their registration form by fax, mail, or in person. Complete registration information is available in the Continuing Education Catalog. The catalog is available online at http://www.fanshawec.ca/, or you can call the Office of the Registrar at 519-452-4444.

All courses are offered in conjunction with Fanshawe College, Main Campus, London, Ontario.

Certification Exam

There is a certification exam scheduled at Fanshawe College, on Saturday, April 10, 2010. If you wish to attend, you can fill out the application form and get it to Don Mines, or Tony Darmanin. If you know someone taking a course with any of these guys, you can send it with them to the class, along with your payment of $185 CDN.  Deadline for the application to Tony, or Don, is February 24, 2010.
